On 23 November 2021, the OIE Sub Regional Representative for North Africa Dr. Rachid Bouguedour, paid a courtesy call to Mr. Mahmoud Elyes Hamza, the New Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries of Tunisia at his office, also present was the Director General of Veterinary services and Director of Cooperation. On behalf of the OIE Director General Dr. Monique Eloit, Dr Rachid offered OIE’s gratitude to the Tunisian government for their acceptance to host the sub-regional representation of the OIE for North Africa.
He briefed the Minister on the work of the OIE, its mission and activities with particular emphasis to OIE’s role in North Africa. His Excellency the Minister expressed real enthusiasm in the OIE activities and showed particular interest in One Health, Climate change– its impact on animal health, PVS tool and REMESA network initiatives. He further thanked the OIE for its regular support to Tunisia and accepted to officially open the 23rd JPC REMESA meeting scheduled for 24 November 2021.
