Dr. Rachid Bouguedour was received on October 19, 2020 by the new Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries of Tunisia, Ms. Akissa Bahri.
After reiterating the OIE’s thanks on behalf of the Director General to the Tunisian government for having accepted to host the sub-regional representation of the OIE for North Africa, he introduced the OIE, its main missions and activities.
Her Excellency the Minister, showed a real interest in these different activities and showed a particular interest in the PVS process, the “One Health” approach and its different components as well as the animal welfare issues, of growing importance in the sub-region.
The Minister thanked the OIE for its regular support to Tunisia through donations of rabies vaccines for several years as well as the two OIE twinning agreements approved in 2020 (rabies and animal welfare).
The visit took place in a cordial atmosphere despite the constraints related to Covid-19, in the presence of the Director General of Veterinary Services and the Director of International Cooperation.
