The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), in collaboration with the Quadripartite organizations : the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Health Organization (WHO) will convene a Regional Technical Workshop to Strengthen One Health Implementation in Eastern Africa from 1st –3rd  July 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The event will bring together technical specialists leading national One Health platforms from the 12 WOAH Members in Eastern Africa, alongside representatives from regional organizations, development partners, and the Quadripartite organizations. The workshop aims to strengthen the technical expertise and leadership capacities of One Health specialists across this region to support effective implementation of One Health strategies at national level, aligned with global and regional frameworks.

The One Health approach recognizes that the health of humans, animals, plants, and ecosystems are closely interconnected. Increasing threats from zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental degradation continue to demonstrate the urgent need for integrated, multisectoral collaboration.

This regional workshop will provide participants with practical tools, technical guidance, and collaborative platforms to strengthen national One Health instutionalisation and accelerate operationalisation of the One Health approach across the region.

Key thematic areas will include One Health governance and coordination, stakeholder and resource mapping, development and costing of national action plans, monitoring and evaluation, and strengthening regional collaboration and peer-peer learning.

The workshop also seeks to support regional efforts to improve prevention, preparedness, detection, and response to zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and other health threats at the human-animal-environment interface

This training is by invitation only.
