The newly appointed OIE Regional Representative for Africa visited Botswana from 21 – 28 April 2008. Dr Abdoulaye Bouna Niang attended the SADC Livestock Technical Committee Meeting and conducted several meetings with the staff of the Sub-Regional Representation for Southern Africa.
He also visited the OIE Reference Laboratory for Foot-and-Mouth Disease, i.e. the Botswana Vaccine Institute in Broadhurst, as well as the Meat Inspection Training Centre (MITC) and the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) export abattoir in Lobatse.
