Lusaka, 22 February 2015. The OIE learned with deep sadness of the untimely passing on of the Director of Veterinary Services and OIE Delegate for Zambia, Dr Joseph Mubanga. Dr Mubanga died on Sunday, shortly after his return from the 21st Conference of the OIE Regional Commission for Africa in Rabat, Morocco. Dr Mubanga was appointed Director of Veterinary Services of Zambia and OIE Delegate in 2011, and he held these positions until his passing on last week. During his time with the OIE family, he has contributed significantly and represented his country and region very well. The passing on of Dr Mubanga at age 52 is a great loss to the OIE, especially the southern Africa region and he will forever be missed. May his soul rest in peace
