Dr Nadia Brik joins WOAH North Africa as One Health Programme Officer

Dr Nadia Brik - Programme Officer One Health - Sub-Regional Representation for North Africa

Dr Nadia Brik officially joined the World Organisation for Animal Health on 2 September 2024, as One Health Programme Officer and is based at the Sub-Regional Representation for North Africa (SRR-NA), in Tunis, Tunisia. Dr Brik ‘s role is to support One Health projects and programmes in North Africa and support the sub-regional office in carrying out One Health related activities.

Nadia, a Tunisian national, is a veterinarian who graduated from Tunisia’s Ecole Nationale de Médecine Vétérinaire in Sidi Thabet with a Master’s degree in animal genetics and reproduction.

Nadia previously worked as a veterinary inspector for the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, where she held various positions in regional services aligned to animal health, epidemiology, veterinary public hygiene, sustainable development, and animal production.

She later joined the central agency for agricultural extension and training, where she focused on communication and talent transfer. She has had a dynamic career, having worked in both the private and public sectors at the local and national levels, as well as for international organisations.

The WOAH Sub Regional Representation for North Africa is located in Tunis, Tunisia. This office was established to cover the five member countries of the WOAH in the region (Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia) in conjunction with the Regional Representation for Africa based in Bamako (Mali) and the Arab Maghreb Union (UMA in French) which has its headquarters in Rabat, Morocco. For certain activities in connection with GF-TADs, the RAHCs (CRSA’s) and REMESA, Egypt is also associated.
