Following the signing of a contract between the OIE and the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) on 28 January 2018, the Twinning Agreement between the SAVC and the Veterinary Council of Tanzania (VCT) was formally launched at the SAVC offices in Pretoria on 20 April 2018.

The twinning between these two Veterinary Statutory Bodies (VSB), the first of its kind in Africa, will last for 18 months with a budget of EUR 104,000, most of which will be used for training courses, conducted in Tanzania and South Africa. The next scheduled meeting of the twinning partners will take place from 16 – 20 July 2018, again in Pretoria and intends to come up with a joint training needs assessment.
