The Republic of Botswana recovers its FMD free status without vaccination for Zone 7, as recommended by the OIE Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases, and in accordance with article 8.5.9 of the Terrestrial Code. The FMD status of this zone, in the district of Selebi-Phikwe, in the east of Botswana, bordering Zimbabwe, had been suspended in April 2006 following a string of outbreaks in the district (SAT-2).
