Mohamed Farah Dirie
It is with great sorrow that the OIE learned of the passing away of Dr Mohamed Farah Dirie. Dr Dirie, currently working with AU-IBAR as a Field Technical Officer on a project to Rehabilitate Animal Health Services in Somalia, was a key resource person during the eradication of rinderpest from Somalia. Dr. Dirie was killed on the night of June 1st by an Al Shabaab terrorist during the attack on the Ambassador Hotel in Mogadishu. The remains of Dr. Dirie have been interred at the Barkat cemetery in Mogadishu.
