Dr Mariam Alhamdou (she/her) officially joined the P3V Project as Coordinator, with effect from 12 November 2024. She replaces Dr Bashir Kouato Souley, who stepped down in May 2024.
She joins a dynamic and committed team within the P3V Project, a strategic programme funded by the Agence Française de Développement (French Development Agency or AFD). This ambitious project aims to transform access to veterinary services in rural areas by building the capacity of veterinary para-professionals (VPPs) through high-quality training and tailored support, thereby contributing to sustainable improvements in animal health and the livelihoods of rural communities.
Dr Alhamdou is a graduate of the École Inter-États des Sciences et Médecine Vétérinaires (EISMV) in Dakar, and holds a Master’s degree in Public Health. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), an international distinction in project management.
With a rich and varied career, Dr Alhamdou has acquired solid experience in the public and private sectors and within renowned NGOs. She has managed innovative projects focusing on the economic empowerment of women in rural areas and their adaptation to climatic and agricultural challenges. In fragile contexts, she has distinguished herself by her ability to mobilise human and financial resources to generate sustainable, high-impact results.
Her expertise also includes the implementation of training and capacity-building initiatives in the agricultural and veterinary sectors, making a significant contribution to improving food security and sustainable practices in West Africa.
With a strategic vision and an unwavering commitment to the development of rural communities, Dr Mariam Alhamdou occupies a key position in the promotion of sustainable agricultural and veterinary practices, while strengthening the professionalisation of VPPs.
