This information sheet is intended to inform you of the necessary preparations before your travel and of what you can expect once you have arrived in Entebbe.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by a representative of the Laico – Lake Victoria Hotel holding an WOAH signboard who will arrange your transfer to the hotel in Entebbe. This may take from 10 – 20 minutes depending on the traffic.
All participants are personally responsible for the payment of the accommodation as well as other expenses, either at check-in and/or at check-out. If you have registered for the Conference using the link provided in the invitation letter, a reservation has been transferred to the hotel.

The World Organisation for Animal Health – WOAH, will cover travel costs (economy class with most direct route) for funded participants and speakers. The OIE office in Nairobi will purchase air tickets for international flights and send all relevant details to the e-mail address provided by participants in their registration on-line.

Please note that, by accepting their flight itinerary, participants agree to cover any charges and fees resulted from modifications requested for personal reasons after the issuance of the ticket.
Any sponsored participant wishing to purchase – for exceptional reasons – his/her air ticket by him/herself, must compulsorily inform WOAH in advance, providing the provisional booking/invoice before confirming the flight reservation. In this case, and in addition to the beforehand formal agreement with WOAH, the original of both ticket invoice and boarding passes will be required for reimbursement of the economy fare.
All participants are responsible to enquire on the visas and/or transit visas required and make the necessary arrangements to obtain them for the full round trip. Participants are requested to contact the relevant Ugandan High Commission or Embassy in their countries.
Every intending visitor is required to carry a genuine passport/travel document with validity beyond one year. All arriving visitors will be required to fill in arrival declaration forms on arrival at Entebbe and should comply with other immigration formalities including the provision of required biometric information. Arrival/ departure declaration cards are available at the arrival lounge at the Entebbe International Airport.
Selected COMESA Member States (Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eritrea, Kenya, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe).
EAC Partner States (Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi).
Hence, invited participants and speakers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan and Sudan do require a visa.
Uganda visas may be obtained at Uganda missions abroad or on arrival at the country’s ports of entry, as well as applied for online Visa fees : Single entry: U$ 50 per individual (all the online payments are subjected to a 3% surcharge fee)

Follow the webpage direction prompts to complete the application. The following documents will be required for the online visa application:
Present your printed e-visa to the immigration officer at the port of entry (Entebbe).
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be asked to produce you Yellow Fever vaccination card, as Uganda is on the WHO list of countries with risk of yellow fever transmission and countries requiring yellow fever vaccination. Hence also when returning to your home country, you may be asked for it : www.who.int/ith/ITH_Annex_I.pdf
As of 7 March, you are no longer required to show proof of vaccination status or provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate on arrival. Arriving passengers may be subject to temperature checks and will be screened for infectious diseases by the Port Health authorities. If your temperature is above normal or you display COVID-19 symptoms, you may be required to take a COVID-19 test. If a foreign national tests positive for COVID-19 and wishes to be repatriated for treatment outside of Uganda, they will be expected to cover the costs themselves. When returning to your home country, you may be asked for COVID Vaccination/PCR test, please check with your country’s immigration authority.
The WOAH Sub Regional Representation for Eastern Africa in Liaison with a representative from Laico- Lake Victoria Hotel team will organise transfers from the airport (Entebbe International Airport – EIA). After exiting the customs at the arrival hall, please look for the meeting person holding the placard “WOAH”. This may take from 10 – 20 minutes depending on the traffic.

Kindly bring suitable (warm) clothing and shoes. Average temperatures throughout the country hover between 68ºF (20ºC) and 79ºF (26ºC), Temperatures can go down to 15 °C in the month of June. In some instances, however, sunshine becomes much more abundant than rain. Also, in view of the above, please wear long-sleeved shirts and garments at night and use mosquito repellent if necessary.
The national currency, Uganda Shilling (UGS) is used for all transactions in Uganda.
Insurance terms, when relevant, are specified in the respective invitation letter. Except for certain categories of invitees, WOAH will not be responsible for life/medical/travel insurance of the participants or for costs resulting to any illness, accident or loss which may occur during travel and/or Conference attendance.
